James Cisco doesn't write songs so much as he waits for them to appear.

Mama Bear found James one very hot summer while he was working in a plant nursery in central Illinois. While breaking his back all day mulching in a new shipment of maple trees the pattern of a close by sprinkler caught his attention. It cycled perfectly like a drum loop, and had a great stutter feel to it. By the end of the day Mama Bear had nearly finished itself.

The lyrics talk of fire flies, marching bands, pickup trucks, and the lovelorn bittersweet happenings of a blue collar summer.

Lyrics

Well Mama Bear's been gone
And now we're barely hanging on
We're spilling Honey all over the road

We'll have a jamboree
That's where everyone will be
Leave your pickup at the fork in the road

Watch the fireworks fly
On the fourth of July
Won't you hold my hand
Watch the marching band
I wanna let you in
I wanna be your friend
I wanna be your sugar
Sweetest Evelyn

Five years to the day
Since the bottom fell away
Now there ain't another place you can go

You gotta take some time
Better find a piece of mine
Cause the one you got is ready to blow

Don't you wonder why
All the fireflies fly
Can't you live without
Anything but doubt

I wanna hold your hand
I wanna be your man
Wanna be your lover
Sweetest Evelyn

Ohhh I
Don't wanna be your clown
Ooooooooh ohhhh yeah.
Ohhh I
Don't wanna let you down
And bring the whole thing round....yeah
Back up and jump real high
Throw some water in the sky
You gotta swing like never before

You gotta swim right out
Yep, you gotta leave the crowd
Until your feet can't touch any more

Don't you wonder why
All the fireflies fly
Can't you live without
Anything but doubt

I wanna hold your hand
I wanna be your man
Wanna be your sugar
Sweetest Evelyn
